About Bandipur National Park

Situated in the foothills of Western Ghats in Southern Karnataka, Bandipur National Park is one of India's best protected Project Tiger reserves in India. Spread across 874 square kilometres of mighty woodlands, Bandipur National Park preserves some of the finest flora and fauna in the world. The guests visiting this magnificent jungle can experience several firsthand encounters of rustic jungle life amid rare species of animals, birds and plants. Bandipur National Park, Mudumalai National Park, Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary and Nagarahole National Park are part of 2200 square kilometres of India's largest protected forest area, the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The Bandipur forest is open throughout the year and it offers wide range of wildlife tourism options including jungle safari, trekking, photography, bird watching, cycling and local sightseeing places.

During forest safari and trekking, one  can sight various animals including Tigers, Leopards, Elephants, Sloth Bears, Hyenas, Dholes, Indian Gaurs, Sambar Deer, Chital, Wild Boar, Barking Deer and lion tailed Macaques. Bandipur National Park is also home to many species of birds and reptiles including Peacocks, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Nilgiri Flycatcher, Grey-headed Fish Eagle, Pompadour Green Pigeon, King Cobra, Python, Rat Snake, Marsh Crocodile, Tree Frog and Monitor Lizard.
